Public access to the information available to the authorities on product safety should, as a general rule, be ensured. However, in making available information on product safety to the public, professional secrecy, as referred to in Article 339 TFEU, should be protected in a way which is compatible with the need to ensure the effectiveness of market surveillance activities and of protection measures.
